I spent last night working on a script that ports the TotSP data structures for story/comment to Drupal 5.x (not as easy as it should be, Drupal has a damn separate table and sequence for everything).

The end result is drupal.screaming-penguin.com. I have not ported over ALL content yet, I did port over stories/comments written by atrox, kebernet, jeepmutt, slacklove, jheimmann, andy, boredatwork, and billy.

I also created user accounts for those people (email me for your password, if you want to login and tweak the site, you have admin privileges).

I still have not made a custom Drupal theme, or moved over RSS aggregator sources, or figured out how to get Drupal to let us see/search all the archived content - but I am fairly sure it can do all that (I just need some time to play with it).

New stuff, based on Drupal, was done for trackback/ping/comment enhancements - and each user gets their own "blog", distinct from stories. This is stuff I was trying to do with jPenguin, and did some of, but when I noticed Drupal had all of it, I thought I would just try it. So far, though it's early, I like Drupal.

I did update DNS, but only this AM. I know a few other people (boredatwork) can resolve it, probably just the cache not propogated yet.

I was curious to see how it worked. I use to run php-Nuke on my website, but the software was a POS and got sql-injected by some hacker. I installed Drupal instead, but I just couldn't seem to get it to do much... Maybe because I have been playing too much WoW lately... Must get lvl 70...

Understood, I wasnt sure about it either, I had looked at php-nuke a decade or so ago, and it sucked. I think things are better now though, so far drupal is not bad.

But still I am not sure its a perfect fit, its just a time saver over having to write it myself.

And, as for lvl 70, you do know you can just pay underprivileged asian kids to do that for you?

I had some problems this evening, so I cleared all the content - I will add it back at a later date, once I have a few other things set and understand drupal such that I am satisfied that it will work.

If you want admin rights to the site, in the meantime, to play around, just create an account and then tell me.
