Green Roofs: NPR

Green Roofs are just that, roofs that are made of "vegetative matter" that grow directly on the rooftops of buildings and homes.

The industry purports they provide various environmental improvements AND have some more mainstream benefits as well. They are said to be better insulators, handle runoff better and even last longer than other roofing materials.

These roofs are of course very expensive to start with and require specialized personnel to build. Therefore they are not a viable replacement for your standard roof by any means, yet they are very interesting for all of their benefits and they arent so bad to look at either.

Hey thanks for this. I was listening to that on the way in and planned on researching it but you know how it goes once you walk in the office door.
