Hacking your PS2?

I got a PS2 for xmas last year. That's late, I know, but better than never. Anyway, a friend of mine advocates "hacking" my PS2 to allow it to play "backup" games. He says its easier on an Xbox, but that it can be done on the PS2. He pointed me to this site: http://www.easybuy2000.com.
Is it worth it to hack it, considering the degree required, or what?
And lastly, in lieu of hacking and soldering, what other gadgets or tricks are out there for the PS2?

So you've had a PS2 less than a month and are already bored with it enough in it's current state that you want to begin modding it? Sounds like you should have bought Bill's box. hehe

i hered that there is a code that the ps2 asks for and if you got the code corect you ps2 is now able to play chiped games.

obviosly not once it happens it cant be undone unless u use a pictomem chip in the usb port while playing the game and even then u can only play up to were you are

alright, that jab was a bit low, but still deserved. i got the PS2 for xmas and did not ask for it. i now hear that i should have returned it and gotten bills box?

If I'm not mistaken, I do believe that a "backup" PS2 game is just like all those "backup" movies that people put up on Kazaa for "personal storage". Your friend might have been offering to store some of his "backups" at your house (inside the CD-ROM drive of your PS2, infact)...you know, redundant "personal" backups are a good thing.

I recommend buying this. This requires no mod chip. It keeps ur worrenty and is easier and faster for people new to modding and lazy experts. And its the cheapest way iv seen so far.

the backup game has an advantage, well because when you burn a dvd rom you could play that on a ps2 only if you have a modchip.

google DMS4. Go in their forums. There is everything you will ever need to know about modding and getting all teh stuff you want to work. They dont like to reply quickly though. If you buy a modchip, have a professional install it. Beleive me its not worth the risk.

the ps3 was held back because it was faulty. it was then released with so many bugs they had updates being sent over internet for 6 days in a row. they should have taken there time after seeing what happened to 360. my mate has gone through 2 ps3s now. okay the 360 isn't perfect either, after they had problems with overheating. both consoles were a rushed product......this is a war between the most powerful consoles and both have lost. the wii won by far, but i still dont want one (it lacks graphics lol). either way the PC is the best thing for playing games on and no one can say any different. might cost a bit more...but you can do so much more with em.
anyway just think about how stupid you guys are being.
