Macrovision on Linux? ZDNet

Frickin great, now that Macrovision crap is going to be in Linux run consumer electronics devices? MontaVista has announced a deal with Macrovision to protect embedded Linux devices.

Well, its actually a GOOD thing for Linux as this will allow more companies to feel more comfortable with embedded Linux as a platform.

However, I still hate that Macrovision crap because I cant copy my own damn DVDs for archival purposes (and thats REALLY what I want to do, make a copy, put it away in case the DVD gets mucked up, if you have kids you will understand this). This hatred is a bit misdirected though, its the MPAA and DVDCCA that pay for Macrosvision to make me have to buy Sampo DVD players so that I can disable, whoops, . . . (this sentence removed by federal agents).
